General areas of responsibility

The VSC (Volunteer in Civic Service) is placed under the responsibility of the head of the Antilles Research Unit (BIODIVENV) for an initial period of 12 months, possibly renewable once. He / she's mission is to participate actively in the smooth running of the actions carried out by the aquaculture team of the Robert unit. He / she is particularly assigned to operations related to the program on aquaculture diversification (“Diamond” project, FEAMP 2020 - 2022): - Bibliographic watch - Supply of biological material from the natural environment (juveniles, broodstock) from partners / providers (fishermen, associations, etc.), as well as with the unit's aquaculture team - Implementation and follow-up of zootechnical experiments carried out in the unit's infrastructures, in particular in terms of controlling the reproduction of new local species targeted by the project.  

 

 

Required Knowledge, skills, and characteristics

 

Initial training: • Bac + 5 type Engineer / Master with first experience in Aquaculture. •Boat license Professional experience : • Marine fish farming • Tropical aquaculture • Broodstock management • Larval breeding management Specific knowledge: • Biology and farming of marine fish • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Power point, Access software • Statistical data processing • Drafting and presentation of summary documents Personal qualities : • Autonomy, sense of responsibility, rigor and versatility • Initiative, analytical and synthesis skills • Organizational skills, aptitude and taste for field work • Ability to work in a team in an island and tropical environment
